Topaz
Healing
|
Topaz is a practical gemstone of grounded creativity.
It aids in the task of making the right decisions, dispelling
uncertainty, getting from one point to the next without
wasting time. Topaz
emanates strong, positive vibrations that increase confidence,
feelings of courage and an elevated level of self-realization.
Topaz
possesses the Sun's male energy. |
To some, these beliefs seem to be wacky alternatives
dreamt up by west coast hippies, or just another marketing
tool. In reality the lore of gem healing has its roots
planted in ancient practices that predate modern medicine
by thousands of years. Two such ancient healing techniques,
still very much in practice today, are Litho-therapy
and Crystal Healing.
|
|
|
Litho-therapy, from the Greek 'Lithos' meaning 'Stone,' and Crystal Healing are practices whereby minerals
and gems are used to rebalance
and harmonize the body's internal energy flow. The belief
in minerals
and gemstones having healing properties is as old as the
hills: being used by the Mesopotamians, Egyptians, Greeks,
Chinese and just about every other archaic culture that
has ever walked the face of the Earth. |
|
In
both healing techniques it is believed that every mineral whether
semi-precious, precious or just common garden rock crystal,
have specific material properties that relate to healing
our spiritual and physical problems. Healing works
in function to the 7 zones of the body, called chakras,
through which the body's spiritual energy flows. Practising therapists
believe that the body's physical ailments stem from the
disruption of this spiritual energy. For skeptics, it is
interesting to note that English word 'Disease' ('Dis-Ease'),
and the French 'Malaise' ('Mal-Aise'), are formed to describe a negative physical manifestation
due to a negative mental state. |
Crystal healers believe that spiritual agitation can
cause these chakras to shift or block, de-centering
the flow of energy causing a worsening state of health.
The use of a gemstone mineral, and its curative properties used
in relation to a specific chakra is believed to detoxify
and re-center the energy flow, helping the body to regain
its physical and spiritual well-being.
Within these therapies, the relation of gemstone mineral material to color plays a strong role: each mineral possessing
a vibratory resonance that translates into a particular
nuance. This echoes each of the Chakras that also possess
their own energy frequency levels and colors. Some gem minerals are used with particular chakras to calm, while others
are used to invigorate: Red for example is used to strengthen.
Topaz works in conjunction with
|
|
the 3rd chakra. The third
chakra is the 'Solar Plexus'; here again we see 'Solar'
meaning 'Sun' being related
to Topaz. Translated into Sanskrit this is the 'Manipura': 'Lustrous
Gem, City of the Shining Jewel.'
|
|
The
third chakra is the center of individual rule, ego, passion,
impulse, anger and strength. It is also the center for
astral influence, receptivity of spirit guides and for
psychic development. When the third chakra is not in equilibrium
you may be short of confidence, be confused, worry about
what others think, feel that others are controlling your
life, and depressed. Associated physical problems are
digestive difficulties, allergies, liver problems, diabetes,
and nervous exhaustion. Body parts connected to this chakra
include: stomach, liver, gall bladder, pancreas and small
intestine. |
When possessing a balanced third chakra you may feel
cheerful, outgoing, expressive and enjoy taking on new
challenges. The color of the third Chakra is yellow:
a warm color that stimulates the nervous system and
affects the emotions, it can help with mood elevation
and the alleviation of exhaustion and burnout. Its associated
gemstones
are Topaz, citrine, yellow calcite and peridot. If you are interested
in aromatherapy, then the associated essential oils
of the 3rd chakra are angelica, chamomile, fennel, frankincense,
geranium, juniper, lemon myrrh, rose, rosemary and sandalwood.

There are no secondary effects with either Crystal Healing or Litho-therapy,
and you don't have to pay out for treatment. So you
can start practicing yourself by choosing
your own gems
and crystals. Let yourself be guided by your intuition,
if a particular gem or crystal jumps out at you then
that it's trying to tell you something. Once you've
made your decision, it's better that someone buys the
gem for you as a gift: a little persuasion and a 'Please'
in the right direction can get you over this hurdle.
Before wearing your gem jewelry for the first time it
is very important that you clean it to purify it of
previous imprints left by others. Gems
possess a life of their own, so if you treat them with
love they will return those feelings and bestow their
positive natural energies to you ten times over.
