Reviewing the affordable yet spectacular properties
of Topaz,
it comes as no surprise that the multicolored, multicultural
jewel is one the most successful semi-precious gem varieties
in the global gem and jewelry industry of today.
Topaz
has been mined since the early 1700’s, during which
time hundreds of kilos of wine-yellow gems
were sourced from the Erzgebirge Mountains, in the Saxony
region of East Germany. This area was the main source of Topaz until the discovery of the Villa Rica deposits of Ouro Preto, in Brazil under the Portuguese colonialists early
in the 17th Century.
