East
Africa's ‘Great Rift Valley’ is one of the greatest
gem producing locations on Earth, and has become something
of an issue concerning Ruby. Discovered in the 1960’s,
Kenya and Tanzania’s Rubies surprised everybody with
their remarkably beautiful color, varying from light
to dark red.
Reputed for its tsavorite, tanzanite and rhodolite
garnet the exploration of this gem rich geographical
feature only began in the last fifty or so years. In
this time this massive area has continued to surprise
with quality yields of alexandrite, sapphire, color-change garnet and countless other gem varieties.
